11 Apr Reykjavik University: Two-year faculty position in cyber security
The Department of Computer Science at Reykjavik University is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual for a faculty position at any rank in the field of cyber security. This position is initially funded for two years, but may become permanent with funding and following a positive evaluation. We particularly seek candidates who are keen to help build a new cyber security program in Iceland, with a research focus on cyber defence for the modern era, and who enjoy researching practical solutions for small and medium size enterprises and nations.
The ideal candidate will have extensive practical experience, ideally in teaching and research, with a focus on areas that align with our commitment to strengthening cyber security. Areas of emphasis include:
- Industrial Control System Security
- Machine learning security and privacy
- Analysis and verification of security protocols
- Cyber Defence
- Network infrastructure security, applied cryptography, intrusion and anomaly detection
- System security (operating system, distributed systems, and web security)
You will have the opportunity to further build your network, strengthen internal collaborations, engage in interdisciplinary scientific work, and drive progress through collaboration with other dedicated professionals.
Successful candidates are expected to actively participate in the writing of grant proposals and in both teaching and administrative duties within the department, including teaching courses and supervising students at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Applicants with a demonstrated track record of excellence in teaching are preferred, but all backgrounds relevant to cyber security will be considered.
The position is open until filled, with intended starting date in August 2023. Later starting dates can be negotiated, but preference will be given to candidates who can take up their position in August 2023. The deadline for applications is Wednesday, 31 May 2023.
