Cyber TeamItaly: Today the presentation

On Wednesday 18 November at 3.30 pm the Cini National Cybersecurity Laboratory (Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per l’Informatica) will present the new TeamItaly, the Italian national team of ethical hackers. The event, which will be held remotely on Zoom Webinar, will be an opportunity to meet the members of the team of young IT security experts, aged between 16 and 23, who represent Italian excellence in international IT security competitions.

The first challenge for this year’s team, which ends its virtual retirement today, will be the HackFest 2020: a friendly IT security competition organised by Enisa, the European Union Agency for IT Security. The event, which will be held on 16 and 17 November, replaces the annual European Cyber Security Challenge: the most important European competition for young ethical hackers, postponed due to the ongoing health crisis. During the last edition, hosted in 2019 by Romania, TeamItaly won the European podium, winning the silver medal. The press conference will also be an opportunity to collect the National Team’s commentary on its return from its first challenge of the year.

The formation of the new squad of the Italian national cyberdefender team comes at the end of the fourth edition of CyberChallenge.IT, the first national programme aimed at young talents to train the ethical hackers of the future. The initiative includes an advanced course in which the best boys and girls selected in each of the participating venues are admitted to participate, free of charge. In the 2020 edition, which has just ended, 560 young people took part, while over 700 will be admitted next year, when the participating venues will be 32 (30 universities, the Tuscan Cybersecurity Competence Centre and the Turin Army Training and Application School Command). The best of these will be invited to TeamItaly next year, in order to strengthen the ranks of Italian ethical hackers.
