04 Nov CyberChallengeIT: start registrations for the national school of ethical hackers
After the success of the 2020 edition, which involved more than 560 young people, this time the CINI National Cybersecurity Laboratory (Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per l’Informatica – National Inter-University Consortium for Informatics) aims to consolidate the effort made so far by bringing as many as 31 locations to CyberChallenge.IT (three more than last year), involving more than 750 young people between 16 and 23 years of age and encouraging the participation and interest of high school girls and boys.
Registration to take part in the admission tests will remain open until 17 January and will give hundreds of bright and motivated young people the opportunity to be selected to take part in a free training programme at the participating locations (29 universities, the Tuscan Cybersecurity Competence Centre and the Army Training and Application School Command of Turin), in spring 2021: the first step for a future career in IT security.
Young people will be followed by university experts and leading companies in the sector, who will introduce them to the scientific, technical and ethical principles of cybersecurity, with practical activities in defence against cyber attacks. The programme will culminate in a national final competition that will elect the best among the Italian teams.
TeamItaly
Among all the participants in the training and competitions, the best will be invited to form the Italian National Cyberdefender Team, TeamItaly, which will have the opportunity to compete with other national teams in events and competitions around the world.
“Now in its fifth edition, this year we want to consolidate the results achieved so far, drawing from the new challenges faced by citizens and the market the maximum motivation to help young enthusiasts find their way in the field of IT security,” commented the director of the Cini National Cybersecurity Laboratory, Paolo Prinetto: “Even during the worst moments of the lockdown, this spring, CyberChallenge. IT was able to offer participants the maximum in terms of knowledge and resources: today we are even more aware of how fundamental these skills are and for this reason we hope to contribute to filling a shortage of professional figures equal to the cybersecurity and industrial challenges of the future”.
