Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies are becoming ubiquitous and their applications are growing at an unprecedented rate. The attention of the scientific community and stakeholders has been historically focused on the beneficial uses of AI. Less attention has been paid to AI security and malicious uses of AI aimed to compromise the security of individuals, companies, and society. However, as the performance of AI algorithms increases, their expected use in mission-critical applications like self-driving cars and cybersecurity is changing the mind of the scientific community and stakeholders. AI security and the malicious uses of AI, investigated in the area of adversarial machine learning, are becoming a top priority for researchers and high-tech companies. The strategic goal of this working group on is to contribute to the continuous rise of the beneficial applications of AI technology by mitigating its security issues and by expanding the practical use of AI for cybersecurity.
